Two journals (one green volume containing drafts and notes, and one final version) giving Reverend Peter Levesque's account of the Duff's attempted second missionary voyage to the Pacific (1798-1799). Levesque's destination was Tongataboo, however the voyage was abandoned after the Duff was taken at Rio de Janeiro by a French privateer, and later again by a Portuguese man-of-war, forcing its return to Lisbon. A full account is given of the aborted mission, including their stay in South America, as well as some of Levesque's sermons at the end of the first volume. The collection also includes a copy of the second edition of Richard Gregory's "Visible display of divine providence; or, the journal of a captured missionary" (1801) and a copy of "The universal navigator, and modern tourist: comprehending authentic and circumstantial narratives of the most interesting voyages and travels" (1805). The latter contains accounts of the first and second voyages of the Duff.
